Black Mountain Center for the Arts Features Work by UNC Asheville Faculty

In February each year, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts hosts a show in its Upper Gallery to feature art from one of the local nearby colleges and universities. For 2010 the show will feature works from a dozen artists on the faculty at UNC Asheville. The show will open with a public reception with the artists from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7. The show will be on view through Saturday, March 13, which is also the date of BMCA’s annual Auction for the Arts. The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is located in the original City Hall at 225 W. State Street, in downtown Black Mountain. For more information call 828/669-0930 or visit www.blackmountainarts.org.

Twelve UNC Asheville Art Department Faculty will be participating: Luke Allsbrook, Tamie Beldue, Virginia Derryberry, Robert Dunning, Maury Gortemiller, Karen Ives, Mark Koven, Scott Lowrey, Brent Skidmore, Robert Tynes, Matt West and Megan Wolfe. Information on each artist’s work may be seen at www.unca.edu/art/.

"The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is honored to present this show. Although individual faculty members and occasionally a small group hold gallery exhibitions across the U.S. and overseas, a combined Faculty exhibition of this caliber of artistic ability is a rare treat," said Gale Jackson, Executive Director of the Black Mountain Center for the Arts.
