UNC Asheville to Host Panel Discussion on Women Leaders in the Workplace

UNC Asheville's Career Center will host a discussion on "Diversity, Women and Leadership in the Workplace" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union, Mountain Suites. The event is free and open to the public.

The talk will feature a range of local professional women discussing the importance of diversity related to the workplace. They will also describe their personal challenges related to issues of diversity and female leadership. The panel includes Dr. Elizabeth Castillo of Mountain Area Health Education Center; Latessa Johnson of Asheville City Schools; Mary Michael of Reuter Family YMCA; Deborah Miles of UNC Asheville's Center for Diversity Education; Cornelia Powell of Weddings of Grace online magazine; and Heather Teague of Women at Risk.

Panel moderators are Rory James, director of UNC Asheville's Intercultural Center, and Alice Weldon, co-director of UNC Asheville's women's studies program and associate professor of Spanish.
