Test prep classes are now available |
Registration is now open for the Scholastic
Aptitude Test (SAT) prep and the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)
classes offered by UNC Asheville's Professional Education Programs.
Classes will meet on the UNC Asheville campus.
The SAT prep class will meet for three consecutive weeks from 6 to
8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, May 18-June 3. The SAT,
required for admission to most undergraduate colleges and
universities, employs multiple-choice questions designed to gauge
verbal and mathematical abilities. The prep course will concentrate
on test-taking techniques, timesaving methods and logical reasoning
to prepare for the test, which will be offered at area high schools
on June 6. Cost for the prep class is $275 and includes study
materials. Registration deadline is May 11; late sign-up will result
in an additional $15 fee.
The GRE prep course will meet for four consecutive weeks from 6-9
p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 19-June 11. The course is
designed to increase familiarity with the various types of verbal,
quantitative and analytical questions present on the GRE
computer-generated general test, required by most graduate programs
for admission. Students will learn test-taking strategies and work
with test-simulation exercises on reading comprehension, antonyms,
analogies, sentence completion, graphs and the writing assessment.
Cost for the course is $325, which includes study materials and
practice disk. Registration deadline is May 12; late sign-up will
result in an additional $15 fee.
