As the rise in distance education grows, so
does the need for distance assessment. Many online classes require
that exams be administered by a qualified proctor. Now, trained
proctors at UNC Asheville's Asheville Graduate Center can provide a
variety of tests, from post-graduate to professional exams. The
Asheville Graduate Center customizes its services to fit
test-takers' needs. Both computer- and paper-based testing services
are provided.
"Online classes vary considerably in what is required for
assessment. We are ready to provide the testing methods and
conditions instructors require," said Nancy Williams, UNC Asheville
coordinator of professional education programs. "Once a student
contacts us, we can handle the details of the administration of the
test and allow the student to focus fully on the course content,
rather than tracking down a qualified proctor."
The Asheville Graduate Center maintains professional testing
standards and protocol. A trained proctor is present at all times
while the student is tested. Test-takers may schedule a test from 9
a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
For students taking test for course credit, cost is $35 for up to
two hours of testing. Cost is $50 to reserve three hours of testing.
For professional licensure exams, rates are set and collected by the
sponsoring testing agency.
