"Far Point" by Peggy Rivers

UNC Asheville will host a solo exhibition of
recent works by Charlotte painter Peggy Rivers. The exhibition,
"Peggy Rivers: Perpetua Perplexita ," will be on view September
18-October 20 at UNC Asheville's S. Tucker Cooke Gallery, located on
the main floor of Owen Hall. The exhibition is free and open to the
public.
Two special events will be held in conjunction with the exhibit.
Rivers will discuss her work at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in UNC
Asheville's Owen Hall, room 237. In addition, an opening reception
will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in the gallery.
These events are free and open to the public.
A native of Iceland, Rivers holds a master's degree in studio art
from Humboldt State University and a master of fine arts degree in
painting from Columbia University. While being a prolific artist,
Rivers has also taught art at a number of universities, including
SUNY Stony Brook and Winthrop University. Rivers currently teaches
at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte and is
represented by Joie Lassiter Gallery in Charlotte and City Art in
Columbia, S.C.
Located on the first floor of Owen Hall, the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery
is free and open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. For more
