Summer Music Camp will be held June 21-26,
2009 |
Aspiring musicians will have the opportunity to
engage in intense instruction and melodious fun at UNC Asheville's
fourth annual "Music in the Mountains: Western North Carolina Summer
Music Camp." The overnight camp, set for June 21-26, is open to
middle and high school students.
UNC Asheville music faculty and band and orchestra directors from
the region's middle and high schools will lead sessions on jazz
improvisation, master classes, large and small ensembles, conducting
and music theory. Private lessons and secondary piano lessons are
also offered for a small fee. Camp counselors will lead recreational
activities during the week.
Special camps for double reed players, vocalists and pianists will
be offered. Students may also participate in the middle and high
school string orchestra and the middle and high school concert band.
Continuing Education Unit certification will be available for band
directors.
Registration is $405 or $300 for commuter students. Meals will be
provided. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve
basis and must include a $100 non-refundable deposit. Enrollment is
limited; early application is advised.
