UNC Asheville's Eighth Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition will be on view April 10-21 at UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union Gallery. An opening reception will be held 3-6 p.m. Friday, April 10, in the gallery. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

UNC Asheville students will present original digital works, including animation, computer art, Web applications and video. The student work will represent a host of subjects, from personal expression to commercial application, from exploring ideas in communication to information technology, media science, architecture, literature and music. Nationally recognized multimedia artists Robert Klein and Christopher Oakley will serve as jurors.

Klein, a designer and animator, specializes in the creation of technical animations, visual effects and infographics. He is the president of KleinDigital LLC in Asheville and has produced award-winning content for both national and international projects. Clients include S.C. Johnson, TSA, United Airlines and Mahoe NZ. Klein currently teaches in UNC Asheville's Multimedia Arts & Sciences Program and is working on a visualization project with Whole Foods Market.

Oakley, a director and animator, has worked extensively in the film, television and game industry. His stop motion animation and art direction include the "Budbowl" Super Bowl ads for Anheuser Busch, the Pillsbury Doughboy and Hershey's Kisses. Oakley was recruited by Walt Disney Feature Animation as a digital animator for the film "Dinosaur." Among his other film credits include "Spirit," "Men in Black II," "Stuart Little 2" and "Scooby Doo." Recently, he created animations based on Keith Haring designs for Madonna's "Sticky and Sweet" concert tour. Oakley currently teaches in UNC Asheville's Multimedia Arts & Sciences Program and is developing a number of projects with Blue Ridge Motion Pictures.

The gallery is located on the lower level of UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union. The gallery is free and open to the public from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Sunday.
