"New Zealand Cactus" by Monica Miller

"Environmental Impressions," featuring 16 linoleum prints by UNC Asheville senior Monica Miller, will be on view January 13-30 at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery. An opening reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, in the gallery. The show is a culmination of Miller's work toward a bachelor of arts degree at UNC Asheville. The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public.

The exhibition was inspired by Miller's travels to Singapore, China and New Zealand. The images, which employ environmentally friendly inks and paper, capture each culture's plants and animals.

"I try to use materials that have the least negative impact on the environment and I try to inspire the viewers of my work to appreciate the environment as much as I do," said Miller.

Blowers Gallery, located on the main floor of UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library, is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, call 828/251-6546.
