UNC Asheville's Intercultural Center to Host Talk by Ahira Sanchez-Lugo

UNC Asheville will host a talk by climate expert Ahira Sanchez-Lugo at noon on Thursday, Oct. 22, at UNC Asheville’s Intercultural Center, lower level of Highsmith University Union. The event is free and open to the public.

Puerto Rican native Sanchez-Lugo has been fascinated by hurricanes and severe storms since she was a child. That fascination became her life work. Sanchez-Lugo received a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) fellowship, and completed a master’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Hawaii. Sanchez-Hugo now works at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) in Asheville, where she is a member of the Climate Monitoring Branch.

For more information, call UNC Asheville’s Intercultural Center at 828/251-6585.
