Flutist Judi Lampert and Friends in Concert at UNC Asheville

Flutist Judi Lampert and Friends will perform in concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. Joining Lampert are several student performers, including Ed Kim, a freshman at T.C. Roberson High School, and UNC Asheville music majors Holly Rhymes and Sarah Fluharty. The program will also feature UNC Asheville instructors Elsa O’Farrell on piano and Matthew Richmond on marimba. Admission is $5 at the door.

Lampert received a master’s degree in music performance from Illinois State University, and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Orchestra Hall in Chicago. Lampert is an adjunct assistant professor at UNC Asheville and directs the UNC Asheville flute choir.

O’Farrell, a classically trained pianist, teaches piano at UNC Asheville. She also plays harpsichord and fortepiano. Richmond currently teaches percussion at UNC Asheville and Asheville Music School. He frequently performs with the Asheville Symphony, the multi-instrumentalist quartet Eroteme and the pop group Stephaniesid.

The concert will feature a new piece by Richmond, as well as selections by Mozart, Doppler and Karg-Elert.
