UNC Asheville's Center for Jewish Studies will
host "A Jerusalem Between Us," a one-man play written and performed
by Aaron Davidman, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at UNC
Asheville's Lipinsky Auditorium. The performance is held in
conjunction with the Visualizing Human Rights Anti-Conference. The
event is free and open to the public.
In "A Jerusalem Between Us," Davidman gives voice to characters from
various places – from a socialist summer camp in New York to the
Western Wall in Jerusalem. The play addresses recent controversies
that are divisive to Americans and American Jews. It was
commissioned by Theatre J of Washington, D.C., and developed in part
by the Jewish Theatre San Francisco and the Sundance Institute
Program.
Davidman is the artistic director of the Jewish Theatre of San
Francisco, and co-wrote and directed "Blood Relative," an
international collaboration about the Israeli-Palestine story. He
also directed "Golda's Balcony" at Theatreworks and "Death of a
Salesman" at the Traveling Jewish Theatre.
