Questions about current health care reform will be addressed at the “Understanding Health Care Reform 2009” forum at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at UNC Asheville’s Reuter Center. The intergenerational forum will provide information on health care legislation, the history of the current health care system and the effect of reform for citizens and health care providers. David Hurand, news director of WCQS-FM radio station, will moderate. The event is free and open to the public.

A panel of representatives from the Asheville community, including consumers, physicians, hospitals and insurance providers, will address both pre-submitted questions from the moderator and written questions from the audience. Topics will include health care costs, the insurance industry, universal coverage and implications for prevention and quality of care.

A series of free community dialogues will follow the “Understanding Health Care Reform 2009” forum. The series will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Nov. 5-19, at UNC Asheville’s Reuter Center.
