UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library Hosts Talks by Faculty Authors

UNC Asheville faculty are widely published across the spectrum of genres – from poetry to physics. Now they are sharing their stories of challenges and successes in the publishing world.

UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library will host a seven-part lecture series "Brown Bag Book Talks with UNC Asheville Faculty Authors." The talks will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Special Collections, third floor of Ramsey Library. The events are free and open to the public.

-- February 12: Holly Iglesias, lecturer in the Master of Liberal Arts Program, will read from and discuss her latest collection of poetry, "Souvenirs of a Shrunken World" (Kore Press, 2008).

-- February 24: Physics Professor Chuck Bennett will discuss the trials and tribulations of authoring "Principles of Physical Optics" (Wiley, 2008). He encountered such challenges as typesetting formulas and generating camera-ready technical figures. Software and workflow strategies will also be discussed.

-- March 5: Cynn Chadwick, lecture in the Literature & Language Department, will read from and discuss her latest novel, "Babies, Bikes and Broads: The Third Book in the Cat Rising Series" (Bywater Books, 2008).
