UNC Asheville's Board of Trustees will meet for
a retreat June 18-19 at the Burghley Ball Room, DoubleTree Inn
Biltmore, 115 Hendersonville Rd. The meeting is open to the public.
Portions of the meeting may be closed to the public under the
provision of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act.
On Thursday, June 18, the retreat will convene at 9 a.m. and will
adjourn at 5 p.m. The agenda includes a review of the roles and
responsibilities of trustees and reports from Academic Affairs and
the Blue Ribbon Commission on the North Carolina Center for Creative
Retirement.
On Friday, June 19, the retreat will convene at 8:30 a.m. and
adjourn at 3 p.m. Agenda items include a working session on the
University's mission statement, reports from Academic Affairs and
Student Affairs, and an update on the master's degree in climate
change and society.
The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees has 13 members; eight are
appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by
the governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association
president, who is elected by the student body, also sits on the
board. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees promotes the sound
development of the University and serves as advisor to the Board of
Governors and the chancellor.
