UNC Asheville Offers SAT, GRE Test Prep Classes
Registration is now open for the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)
test and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) prep classes offered by
UNC Asheville’s Professional Education Programs. Classes will meet
on the UNC Asheville campus.
The GRE prep course will meet for four consecutive weeks from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 25-April 17. The course is designed to increase familiarity with the various types of verbal, quantitative and analytical questions present on the GRE computer-generated general test, required by most graduate programs for admission. Students will learn test-taking strategies and work with test-simulation exercises on reading comprehension, antonyms, analogies, sentence completion, graphs and the writing assessment. Cost for the course is $325, which includes study materials and practice disk. Registration deadline is March 18; late sign-up will result in an additional $15 fee. The SAT prep class will meet for three consecutive weeks from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, April 14-30. The SAT, required for admission to most undergraduate colleges and universities, employs multiple-choice questions designed to gauge verbal and mathematical abilities. The prep course will concentrated on test-taking techniques, timesaving methods and logical reasoning to prepare for the test, which will be offered at area high schools on October 6. Cost for the prep class is $275 and includes study materials. Registration deadline is April 14; late sign-up will result in an additional $15 fee. For more information or to register, contact Nancy Williams, UNC Asheville Professional Education Programs Coordinator, at 828/250-2353 or nwilliam@unca.edu.
