CANCELLED -- The North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement will offer a hands-on, two-day workshop in the Asian bodywork technique of Shiatsu from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 23-24 and March 11-12 at UNC Asheville's Reuter Center. The workshop will cover self-care and partner-care.

Course topics include the art of healing touch and an overview of the acupuncture meridian system. Jim Sandonato, who will lead the workshop, studied shiatsu at the Gautama Institute for Shiatsu Education. He is certified in Zen Shiatsu from the Meridian Shiatsu Institute and worked at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa as a massage therapist and mentor, teaching shiatsu to the spa therapists. Sandonato is also a certified practitioner in the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia.

Workshop cost is $125 per person, but participants must register in pairs. Space is limited and early registration is suggested. Applicants must be in reasonably good health to fully participate in all workshop activities.
