An image from "Weather Beauty" on view Oct. 31-Nov. 11

"Weathered Beauty," featuring 25 photographs by UNC Asheville senior Amber Reeder, will be on view October 31-November 11 at UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union Gallery. The exhibition is the culmination of Reeder's work toward a bachelor's of arts degree from UNC Asheville. An opening reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in the gallery. The opening reception and the exhibition are free and open to the public.

The exhibition features still-life photographs of discarded and weathered common objects. "When photographing these objects, I keep them tight within the frame," said Reeder. "I never shoot further than five feet from the subject matter, which helps to capture the detail and texture of the object and gives a feel of the degradation that is occurring."

The gallery is located on the lower level of UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union. It is free and open to the public 9 a.m.-9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. weekends when classes are in session. For more information, call 828/251-6991.
