UNC Asheville Student Group to Host Global Playback Theatre;
Event Celebrates U.N. Declaration of Human Rights

UNC Asheville's Amnesty International Student Chapter will host the Global Playback Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union, Alumni Hall. This year's theme is "Stories of Freedom-Our Traditions/Our Future," which celebrates the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. Donations will be collected at the door.

The Global Playback Theatre is a participatory event in which audience members share their personal stories about human insights. The actors then perform the stories on the stage for the audience. The mission of Playback Theatre is to honor the storytellers through enacting their experiences.

The event is co-sponsored by the Western North Carolina Chapter of the United Nations.

For more information, call Mark Gibney, UNC Asheville Belk Professor of Humanities, at
828/250-3870.
