UNC Asheville Wraps Up Philosophy Lecture Series May 6

UNC Asheville will wrap up its 2007-2008 philosophy lecture series at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at UNC Asheville's Kellogg Center, 11 Broyles Road, Hendersonville. UNC Asheville senior Jennifer Gray will discuss "Philosophical Notions of 'Relation' in the Middle Ages: Doing What Hegel Did, Only Earlier." The event is open to the public and a $5 donation will be suggested at the door.

For the past two years, Grey has studied the history of the transmission of six medieval manuscripts by Henry of Ghent. Last month, she was accepted into the "Posters on the Hill" program, which is sponsored by the Council for Undergraduate Research. She traveled to Washington, D.C., where her work was displayed in the Rotunda of the nation's Capitol. She also met with North Carolina Congressional representatives, as well as officials of the National Endowment for the Humanities, to explain her research and its importance.

For driving directions, call the Kellogg Center at 828/890-2050. For more information about the series, call the Institute for Applied Philosophy at 828/831-5068.
