UNC Asheville Continues Philosophy Lecture Series March 11
Samer Traboulsi, UNC Asheville assistant professor of history and
specialist on the Middle East and Islam, will continue UNC
Asheville's philosophy lecture series with a talk on "What is
Jihad?" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at UNC Asheville's Kellogg
Center, 11 Broyles Road, Hendersonville. His talk will be based on
the quote, "And fight in the way of God those who fight you, but
transgress not the limits. Truly, God likes not the transgressors."
An open discussion will follow Traboulsi's talk. The event is open
to the public and a $5 donation will be suggested at the door.
The program is part of a year-long, nine-part series co-sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Philosophy Department and the Institute for Applied Philosophy. The series, "Great Quotes," is designed to foster discussion of philosophically significant issues surrounding well-known quotations. For driving directions, call the Kellogg Center at 828/890-2050. For more information about the series, call the Institute for Applied Philosophy at 828/891-5068.
