The Flute Choir will perform on April 27 |
UNC Asheville's Music Department will wrap up
its spring concert season with five performances in April. The
concerts will be held in UNC Asheville's Lipinsky Auditorium.
Tickets are $5 general admission at the door.
UNC Asheville jazz combos will perform vocal and instrumental
selections at 7:30 pm. Thursday, April 3. UNC Asheville Assistant
Professor of Music David Wilken and jazz studies faculty will direct
the groups.
The UNC Asheville Chamber Symphony will present a concert at 4 p.m.
Sunday, April 6. Under the direction of Melodie Galloway, assistant
professor of music, the group will perform pieces by Mahler,
Mogensen, Lewis and Handel, as well as Imant Ramish's Missa Brevis.
The "Little Mass" will be performed with the UNC Asheville
University Singers, soloists and orchestra, also directed by
Galloway.
UNC Asheville's Concert Band and Percussion Ensemble, directed by
John Entzi, assistant professor of music, and Matthew Richmond,
adjunct instructor of music, will perform at 4 p.m, Sunday, April
13.
The UNC Asheville Jazz Festival will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday,
April 19. The festival will feature performances by UNC Asheville's
Jazz Lab Big Band and special guest trumpet player Bob Lark of
Chicago. Throughout the day, visiting middle school and high school
jazz bands will participate in workshops with Lark and other UNC
Asheville faculty.
The Concert Band, University Singers, Chamber Symphony, String
Quartet and Flute Choir will wrap up the season with performances at
4 p.m. Sunday, April 27. The ensembles will perform under the
direction of music faculty members Galloway, John Entzi, Judi
Lampert and Inez Redman.
