"Stratosphere" by Catherine Murphy 2006, copper, 12"x16"

UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery will host an exhibition of 20 copper sculptures by Asheville artist Catherine Murphy. The exhibition will be on view September 3-30 and is free and open to the public.

Murphy, a former construction welder, creates copper garden sculptures as well as fine art wall hangings and vessels. She has won several art show awards, including first and second place at the Philadelphia Flower Show. This self-taught metal smith has owned and operated Haw Creek Forge for more than 18 years.

Blowers Gallery, located on the main floor of UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library, is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. For more information, call 828/251-6546.
