UNC Asheville Drama Students Transform Campus into Haunted Forest;

Want some chills and thrills this Halloween?
Visit the UNC Asheville Drama Department’s Haunted Forest 7-10 p.m.
nightly through October 30 for a spine-tingling experience. UNC
Asheville drama students will transform the woods outside the
University's Carol Belk Theatre into shadowy trails filled with
ghouls and other supernatural surprises. Special less-scary "lights
on" tours will be available for children and the weak-of-heart upon
request. Tickets are $3.
The Haunted Forest is sponsored by UNC Asheville’s student chapter
of the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT).
Proceeds will benefit the group’s trip to the national conference
next year in Cincinnati to compete in the March 2009 Tech Olympics.
This competition tests the speed and accuracy of backstage skills --
light hanging, properties shift, quick costume change, cut/saw/nail,
and crosby and thimble, where competitors rig cable to hold scenery
or people. The UNC Asheville USITT student chapter is the longest
continuing in the United States and consistently wins top honors at
the Tech Olympics, including the National Title in 2003, 2000 and
1996.
For more information, call UNC Asheville’s Drama Department at
