Ceramics by Will Dickert will be on view November 14-December 1

"What You Will," featuring more than 40 pieces by UNC Asheville senior Will Dickert, will be on view from November 14 to December 1 in UNC Asheville’s Highsmith University Union Gallery. The exhibition is a collection of Dickert’s work towards a bachelor of arts degree from UNC Asheville. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, in the gallery. The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public.

The exhibition features functional ceramics that are all wheel-thrown, high fire stoneware. "My approach to these lidded forms has been driven by somewhat of a serial methodology by working on one type and size of lid fitting at the time," said Dickert. "I hope that my creations possess aesthetically and tactilely pleasing qualities in the composition and glazing of each piece. But first and foremost, I aspire to produce pots that play a domestic and functioning role in the life of their users."

The gallery is located on the lower level of UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union. It is free and open to the public 9 a.m.-9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. weekends when classes are in session. For more information, call 828/251-6991.
