UNC Asheville to Host Panel Series on Career Interests;
First Talk is Set for October 2
Looking for an opportunity to network, gain wisdom and receive
advice from a variety of knowledgeable professionals? UNC
Asheville’s Career Center will host "Career Interest Panel Series:
Connecting the Liberal Arts to Career Choices," which will give an
insider’s perspective on careers in a variety of fields. The talks,
led by a range of local professionals, will connect undergraduate
education to actual workplace experiences. Panel talks are free and
open to the public.
The first panel discussion, focusing on entrepreneurial careers, is
set for 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at UNC Asheville's Mountain Suites,
Highsmith University Union. The talk will feature Ty Hallock of Top
Floor Studios; UNC Asheville alumna Lauren Jones of Ms. Jones Tones;
Joe Minicozzi of Public Interest Projects; Anne Watkins of Kimmel &
Associates; and Karen Wylie of the Blue Ridge Soap Shed. The
discussion will be moderated by Carol Hensley, assistant vice
president of small business and entrepreneurship at the Asheville
Chamber of Commerce and Donna Parsons, UNC Asheville management and
accountancy lecturer.
Three more panel discussions are scheduled during the academic year,
focusing on environmental careers, creative careers, and diversity,
women and leadership in the workplace.
