UNC Asheville's Board of Trustees will meet
from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Asheville Civic Center
Banquet Hall immediately following the University's December
Commencement Ceremony at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. The meeting is
open to the public. Portions of the meeting may be closed to the
public under the provision of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act.
The board will gather for a brief lunch at 11:45 a.m. and convene
its meeting at noon. The Board is scheduled to go into closed
session at 1:45 p.m. Committee and program reports will follow in
open session, including those from Finance and Real Property, Audit,
Governance, Academic Affairs, Alumni and Development, Athletics,
External Relations and Personnel. The meeting will adjourn at 5 p.m.
In case of severe winter weather, the meeting will be held in an
abbreviated format via teleconference.
The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees has 13 members; eight are
appointment by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by
the governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association
president, who is elected by the student body, also sits on the
board. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees promotes the sound
development of the University and serves as advisor to the Board of
Governors and the chancellor.
