UNC Asheville Continues Writers at Home Series with Student Readings

UNC Asheville will continue its 2008-2009 Writers at Home Series at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Malaprops Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St., downtown Asheville. Great Smokies Writing Program students who are enrolled in the fall 2008 advanced poetry workshop will read from their original work. The event is free and open to the public.

Participating students include Caralyn Davis, Shirley Elias, Alice Johnson, Dianne May, Matthew Mulder, Marian Plaut, Randal Pride, Jeanette Reid, Peter Solet, Katherine Soniat, Donna Snyder, Joan Weiner, Sarah Wilson and Maggie Wynne. Asheville Wordfest director Laura Hope-Gill is teaching the class. In "Salt and ice: An Advanced Poetry Workshop," the students are working on poetic techniques and exploring craft annotations to create meaning in their works.
