UNC Asheville Wraps Up Writers at Home Series with Student Reading

UNC Asheville will wrap up its 2007-2008 Writers at Home Series at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Malaprops Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St., downtown Asheville. Great Smokies Writing Program students who were enrolled in the Spring 2008 Advanced Prose Workshop will read from their original work. The event is free and open to the public.

Participating students include Lenny Bernstein, Jennifer Fawkes, Linda Gillespie, Hollie Greene, Paula Kane, Maggie Marshall, Virginia Redfield, Nancy Russell-Forsythe and Jeff Smith. Great Smokies Writing Program Director Tommy Hays taught the class. In "Keeping Ourselves Company: An Advanced Creative Prose Workshop," students worked on fiction or memoir projects, gaining insight from class critiques and lengthy feedback from Hays.
