Since 1982, Leadership Asheville has been
working with people who want to play a role in making Asheville and
Buncombe County better places to live and work. This nine-month
program brings together people who care about issues affecting the
community and who share a concern for the region's future.
Leadership Asheville participants strengthen their community
leadership, deepen their commitment to Western North Carolina, and
examine issues relating to government, education, economic
development and the environment.
"For the past 26 years, Leadership Asheville has worked with nearly
1,000 men and women who live, work and volunteer in the area," said
Gerry Goertz, Leadership Asheville director. "The program has given
them a better understanding of the history and potential of
Asheville and Buncombe County and has helped them define their
personal role in the community's leadership."
The Leadership Asheville class of 2008-2009 will begin in September
2008 and run through May 2009.
Applications will be accepted through June 17. Interested candidates
should go to the website,
www.leadershipasheville.org/programs to apply.
