UNC Asheville's Board of Trustees will meet at
1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in
Steve and Frosene Zeis Science and Multimedia
Building, room 123, on the UNC
Asheville campus. Preceding the meeting, the trustees will tour
campus properties beginning at 10 a.m., leaving from Parking Lot 7a
across from the Zeis Building.
Agenda items for the 1:30 p.m. meeting include swearing in of new
trustees, a review of revised board by-laws and of criteria used to
select project architects and designers, informal tours of the Zeis
Building and a presentation by Jane Fernandes, the incoming provost and vice chancellor for Academic
Affairs.
On Friday, June 6, the trustees will meet for a retreat at 8:45 a.m.
at Wintersun, located at One Wintersun Lane, in Fairview. Agenda
items include discussions concerning UNC Tomorrow, UNC Asheville's
strategic plan and a draft campus capital priorities plan. The
retreat will adjourn at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Portions of the meeting may be closed to the public under the
provision of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act.
The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees has 13 members; eight are
appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by
the governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association
president, who is elected by the student body, also sits on the
board. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees promotes the sound
development of the University and serves as advisor to the UNC Board
of Governors and the UNC Asheville chancellor.
