UNC Asheville Senior Holds Sculpture Exhibition
“Vitrification: Experiments in Scrap Glaze,” an exhibition featuring 20 pieces by UNC Asheville senior Hayden Wilson, will be on view March 2-14 at UNC Asheville’s S. Tucker Cooke Gallery. The show is the culmination of Wilson’s work toward his bachelor of fine arts degree at UNC Asheville. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 2, in the gallery, which is located on the first floor of Owen Hall. In 2005, Wilson was among 10 students who received $3,000 grants through UNC Asheville’s Undergraduate Research program to pursue projects relating to the art, science and business of craft. As an art major with a minor in environmental studies, Wilson created environmentally sound sculptures made by recycling the leftover, hazardous-waste glazes potters discard. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. Admission is free. For more information, call UNC Asheville’s Art Department at 828/251-6559. Media Contacts:
