UNC Asheville's Super Saturday Program Offers Super Classes for KidsSuper-size your Saturdays at UNC Asheville! Gifted, creative and motivated 3rd-8th graders have an opportunity to explore chemistry, chess, cartooning, creative writing and much more at UNC Asheville’s 21st annual Super Saturday Program beginning March 31. The program has helped more than 12,000 children from across Western North Carolina explore their special interests through hands-on learning on the UNC Asheville campus. Some 33 unique courses are open for registration. Exciting new courses this spring include “Getting to Know Horses” and “Democracy and Me.” In addition, creative kids can study acting, cartooning, Irish step dance, stage combat and photography. Budding scientists can take courses in chemistry, dinosaurs, model rocketry and veterinary science. Students interested in becoming global citizens will enjoy classes in French conversation or Tamashii martial arts. Several University faculty members and highly qualified upper-level students teach Super Saturday classes, along with outstanding public school teachers and other professionals. Super Saturday courses meet 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from March 31-May 5. All students are welcome to apply; the registration deadline is Monday, March 26. Tuition is $65 for each course.
