UNC Asheville Hosts Talks by Noted Photographers

Preeminent photographers Harrison Shull and Diana Bloomfield will discuss their craft at 8 p.m. March 30-31 at UNC Asheville's Rhoades-Robinson Hall, room 125. A question-and-answer session will follow both talks, which are free and open to the public.

Shull, a noted adventure photographer, will give a presentation on outdoor sport, landscape and aerial photography Friday, March 30. Considered the Southeast's top rock climbing photographer, Shull's pictures have been featured in Backpacker, ESPN, Climbing and National Geographic Adventure magazines. He has also contributed work for a number of corporations, including ClifBar, Continental Airlines, Patagonia and Wachovia.

Bloomfield, an award-winning artist, will speak on Saturday, March 31. Bloomfield specializes in pinhole and 19th century printing techniques, including platinum and palladium, cyanotype and hand-tinting. She received a New Jersey State Visual Art Fellowship, several United Arts of Raleigh Regional Artist Project Grants and the Maine Photographic Workshop's Golden Light Award.

The talks are sponsored by UNC Asheville's photography interest student organization, F/22. For more information, call student organizer Louis Bouvier at 828/337-3881.
