UNC Asheville Continues Philosophy Lecture Series March 13Grant Hardy, UNC Asheville history professor, will continue UNC Asheville’s annual philosophy lecture series with a talk discussing the Confucian quote “The wise find joy in the water, the benevolent find joy in the mountains.” The talk will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at UNC Asheville’s Kellogg Center, 11 Broyles Rd., Hendersonville. An open discussion will follow his talk. The event is open to the public. A donation of $5 will be suggested at the door. A widely respected expert on China and Buddhism, Hardy is the author of “World of Bronze and Bamboo: Sima Qian’s Conquest of History,” “The Establishment of the Han Empire and Imperial China,” and “The Book of Mormon: A Reader’s Guide.” He also served as editor of “Enduring Ties: Poems of Family Relationships.” Hardy earned his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University and his doctorate at Yale University. The program is part of a year-long, nine-part series co-sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Philosophy Department and the Institute for Applied Philosophy.
