UNC Asheville Continues Philosophy Lecture Series January 16Charles Rowe, a longtime member of the Institute for Applied Philosophy, will continue UNC Asheville’s annual philosophy lecture series with a talk on “Promise-Keeping in Ethics.” The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at UNC Asheville’s Kellogg Center, 11 Broyles Rd., Hendersonville. An open discussion will follow his talk. The talk is open to the public. A $5 donation will be suggested at the door. Rowe’s talk will focus on a noted quote by Machiavelli: “… a wise prince cannot and should not keep his pledge when it is against his interest to do so and when his reasons for making the pledge are no longer operative.” The program is part of a year-long, nine-part series co-sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Philosophy Department and the Institute for Applied Philosophy. The series, “Great Quotes,” is designed to foster discussion of philosophically significant issues surrounding well-known quotations. For driving directions, call the Kellogg Center at 828/890-2821. For more information about the series, call the Institute for Applied Philosophy at 828/891-5068. Media Contacts:
