You never know who will show up on the
stage at the
Holiday Concert! |
Ring in the holiday season with the UNC
Asheville Music Department's annual Holiday Concert at 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 2, in UNC Asheville's Lipinsky Auditorium. The concert
will feature UNC Asheville student musical groups performing
traditional, secular and sacred holiday carols. Admission is $5 at
the door. The event is open to the public.
UNC Asheville's Brass Quintet and Smokey Bones will perform seasonal
music in the lobby as guests arrive for the concert.
The String Quartet will kick off the show with Trepak and the
Arabian Dance from "The Nutcracker." The String Ensemble and
Percussion Ensemble will perform "Coventry Carol" and "The Journey
of the Magi."
UNC Asheville's Flute Choir will perform Cameron Pearce's "Still,
Still Still" and Catherine McMichael's "Pat A Pan." The Classic
Touch Orchestra will perform the traditional carols "Jingle Bells,"
"Sleigh Ride" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
UNC Asheville's Jazz Choir will sing "Christmas Time is Here" by
Guaraldi and Tini's rendition of "Jingle Bells." The University
Singers will follow with Tate's "Kaki Lambe," Arnold's "The Bells"
and Derksen's "Halleluyah."
UNC Asheville's Concert Band will perform a Christmas medley that
includes an audience sing-a-long. All the University musicians and
vocalists will take the stage to conclude the program with the
Halleluiah Chorus.
