Scholarships Awarded to UNC Asheville Engineering StudentsUNC Asheville-N.C. State Engineering Programs recently presented scholarships to 11 engineering majors for the 2007-08 academic year. The following scholarships were awarded: Dave Engineering Scholarship to Brendan Merithew; Thomas M. Howerton Scholarship to Jordan Hicks; American Institute of Industrial Engineers Scholarship to Paul Anderson; American Society for Quality Control Scholarship to Alan Beny; Meritor Scholarships to Steven Epps, Esraa Halim, Clifford Hedricks, Chris Petros and Chong Xiong; and Eaton Foundation Scholarships to William Carow and Moises Escobedo. The students are enrolled in the 2+2 Program or the Mechatronics Program. The 2+2 Program, developed in 1982, allows students to complete their first two years of college at UNC Asheville and then transfer to NCSU to complete their engineering degree. The Joint NCSU-UNC Asheville Bachelor of Science in Engineering-Mechatronics allows students to pursue an engineering degree with a concentration in mechatronics at UNC Asheville.
