UNC Asheville Hosts "Under the Veil" Triptych Print Exhibition May 1-31
"Under the Veil," an exhibit of 10 triptychs prints by UNC Asheville senior Kristina Aberle, will be on view May 1-31 at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery. The show focuses on Aberle's appreciation for the art of belly dancing, which she acquired while growing up in Saudi Arabia. An opening reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the gallery, which is located on the main floor of Ramsey Library. UNC Asheville's belly dance group, of which Aberle is a member, will perform at the reception. The exhibition is free and open to the public. "Saudi's culture, customs and beliefs have all shaped the way I view feminine beauty," said Aberle. "I hope to unveil what is kept in the privacy of Saudi homes and share with audiences my love for belly dancing, a beautiful and ancient art." Blowers Gallery, located on the main floor of UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library, is open during regular library hours. For hours of operation, call UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library at 828/251-6546.
