UNC Asheville's Writers at Home Series Continues with Readings by Local High School StudentsUNC Asheville's Writers at Home series continues with readings by students from Asheville School and Asheville High School at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café, 55 Haywood St. Writers at Home is part of the Great Smokies Writing Program, a consortium of Western North Carolina writers and UNC Asheville's Creative Writing Program. The event is free and open to the public. Asheville High students Natalie Coward, Kate Fioccola and Lila Zimmerman will give readings of their recent works. Cowart, a senior, is active in school and community theatre and is captain of the AHS swim team. Fioccola, a sophomore, is a member of both the AHS Writer’s Club and Debate Team. Zimmerman is a senior and is a member of the AHS Writer’s Club. She plans to attend the Pratt Institute in New York to study creative writing. Katie Locklier and Manny Martinez, of Asheville School, will also give readings. Locklier, of Fancy Farm, Ky., has published works in the the Asheville School's literary magazine and is interested in music and drama. Martinez is from Camden, N.J.
