UNC Asheville Holds Sixth Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition
UNC Asheville's Sixth Annual Multimedia Arts and Sciences Juried Student Exhibition will be on view April 13-24 at UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union Gallery. An opening reception will be held from 3-6 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the gallery. Internationally recognized multimedia artist Katya Moorman will serve as juror. The exhibition is free and open to the public. UNC Asheville students will exhibit original digital works, including computer art, Web applications, video, gaming and animation. A wide range of subjects will be represented, from personal expression to commercial application, from communication and information technology to science, architecture, literature and music. Moorman's art ranges from video and print design to interactive performance and has been featured worldwide. She has received grants and awards from the Brooklyn Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, the Canada Council for the Arts, The International Design Magazine and The Output Foundation. She serves as assistant professor of new media at Western Carolina University and has worked for a variety of media clients, including Merrill Lynch, DeVries Productions and IntelExchange. The gallery is located on the lower level of UNC Asheville's Highsmith University Union. The gallery is free and open to the public from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
