"Traveling Down, Settling Through," an exhibition of 16 oil paintings by Asheville artist Ursula Gullow, will be on view through September 28 at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery. The show is free and open to the public.

Gullow developed her painting through independent study and workshops. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the State University of New York. Several galleries in Asheville, including the Phil Mechanic Building, Asheville Area Arts Council and Wedge Gallery have featured her work.

Gullow's oil paintings depict subjects such as animals, people, cities, landscapes and mild social fiascos with nostalgic undertones. "I like to paint decay and cheer simultaneously, narrate caution and represent beauty," said Gullow.

Blowers Gallery, located on the main floor of UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library, is open during regular library hours. For hours of operation, call UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library at 828/251-6546.
