UNC Asheville Board of Trustees to Meet February 13UNC Asheville’s Board of Trustees will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library Red Oak Conference Room. The board will gather for a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. and will convene its meeting at 8:30 a.m. with briefings and a discussion on board effectiveness. The morning session will wrap up with remarks by UNC Asheville Chancellor Anne Ponder. The board will break for lunch at 11:45 a.m. in the Ramsey Library Whitman Room. Following lunch, board members will receive a hard hat tour of the Zeis Science and Multimedia Building and the Sam Millar Campus Operations Center, both under construction on campus. The board will reconvene at 2 p.m. in the Red Oak Conference Room. The afternoon session will include committee and program reports, including Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Finance and Real Property, Diversity, External Relations, General Counsel, Athletics and Audit. Board Chair Janice Brumit will give closing remarks. The meeting is open to the public. Portions of the meeting may be closed to the public under the provision of the North Carolina Open Meetings Act. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees has 13 members; eight are appointed by the UNC Board of Governors and four are appointed by the governor. The UNC Asheville Student Government Association president, who is elected by the student body, also sits on the board. The UNC Asheville Board of Trustees promotes the sound development of the University and serves as advisor to the Board of Governors and the chancellor.
