Local Elementary Students Provide Art for UNC Asheville's Reuter CenterThe walls of the N.C. Center for Creative Retirement’s Reuter Center are a little more colorful, thanks to the help of young artists from Ira B. Jones Elementary School. An art exhibition featuring pieces ranging from Mexican masks to portraits will grace the walls of the Reuter Center through May 19. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Led by art teacher and UNC Asheville alumna Vicki Hall, students from the public magnet school used a variety of mediums including pastel, watercolor, tempura, paper mache and mosaic to create their projects. The art exhibition is only one of many ways in which young students and older adults collaborate in intergenerational activities at the N.C. Center for Creative Retirement. In the spirit of the Reuter Center’s mission of lifelong learning, leadership and service to the community, many members of the Center tutor students at Jones Elementary School. The art exhibition is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. For more information, call Denise Snodgrass, N.C. Center for Creative Retirement assistant director, at 828/251-6188. Media Contacts:
