Several UNC Asheville faculty members recently received promotions. Promoted to full professor were Virginia Derryberry, art; Heidi Kelley, sociology; Keith Krumpe, chemistry; Sophie Mills, classics; and Irene Rossell, environmental studies. Promoted to associate professor were Leigh Atkinson, mathematics; Linda Cornett, political science; Herman Holt, chemistry; Brian Hook, classics; and John Wood, sociology.

New department chairs and program directors are Brian Butler, Philosophy Department; Volker Frank, Sociology Department; Cindy Ho, Humanities Program; Jeff Konz, Economics Department; Jeanne McGlinn, Education Department; Dwight Mullen, Africana Studies Program; and Dan Pierce, History Department.
