UNC Asheville Music Department Continues Spring Concert Season;
Chamber Chorus to Perform Debut Concert
UNC Asheville’s Music Department will continue its
spring concert series with two performances in March.
The UNC Asheville Concert Band and String Ensemble
will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky
Auditorium. Featured selections include “The Sinfonians,” “Zampa
Overture,” “Concertino,” “His Honor,” “Rhosymedre” and “Flashing Winds.”
Admission is $5.
At 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, UNC Asheville’s
University Singers, Chamber Chorus and String Quartet will perform at
the Basilica of St. Lawrence, 97 Haywood Street, downtown Asheville. The
University Singers will perform Mendelssohn’s Kyrie accompanied by UNC
Asheville’s String Quartet. They will also present Mozart’s “Ave Verum
Corpus” and a variety of classic hymns. This concert is the debut
performance of UNC Asheville’s Chamber Chorus. They will perform “Ave
Maria” by Palestrina and three hymns by Henry Purcell. Admission is free
and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.
