UNC Asheville Hosts "Music in the Mountains" Summer CampAspiring musicians will have the opportunity to engage in intense instruction and melodious fun when UNC Asheville holds “Music in the Mountains: Western North Carolina Summer Music Camp” June 25-30. The six-day overnight camp is open to 7th- through 12th-grade students. UNC Asheville music faculty, band directors from the region’s high schools and middle schools, teachers and musicians will hold sessions on musicianship, concert band, jazz ensembles and other fields. Private lessons are also available for a small fee. The week-long camp will culminate in a Friday afternoon capstone concert in UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. Camp counselors will supervise a number of evening programs and social activities. Students will stay in South Ridge Hall on the UNC Asheville campus. Registration is $350 for overnight guests and $295 for commuter students. Meals will be provided. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and must include a $100 non-refundable deposit. Enrollment is limited and early application is advised.
