2005 Best of Show by Liz Polfus

The UNC Asheville Art Department will host its 39th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition April 14-27 in UNC Asheville’s University Gallery, located on the first floor of Owen Hall. Photographer Susan Harbage Page will serve as juror. The show is free and open to the public.

An opening reception will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, April 14, in the gallery. During the reception, Page will present cash prizes in seven categories, including sculpture, painting, printmaking, drawing, ceramics, photography and mixed media. Scholarships will also be presented.

In conjunction with the show, Page will give a free talk about her recent work at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in UNC Asheville’s Owen Hall, room 237.

Page is a UNC Chapel Hill Art Department instructor and director of the Allcott Gallery. Her photography and photo-based installations explore the changing identities of women in contemporary culture. Her work has been exhibited in a number of public and private collections throughout Bulgaria, Italy, France, China and the United States. She is the recipient of a Project Grant from the Emrys Foundations, two North Carolina Arts Council Fellowships, the Camargo Foundation Fellowship and a Fulbright Travel Grant.
