Asheville Graduate Center Seeks Input on Master's Program in Journalism

Interested in a career in journalism? The opportunity to earn a master’s degree may soon be available right here in Western North Carolina. The Asheville Graduate Center is conducting a survey to determine the interest in earning a master’s degree in journalism from UNC Asheville. If there is enough interest, classes for the new graduate program would be offered on the UNC Asheville campus beginning in fall 2008.

The program is being planned for those who hold a bachelor’s degree and would like to pursue a career in journalism, as well as for working journalists in need of credentials. Coursework will include communication theory, journalism history, news gathering, ethics and media law.

Surveys will be accepted through February 28. To fill out the survey online, click on http://www.unca.edu/agc/madegree.html. For more information or to request a paper survey, call the Asheville Graduate Center at 828/251-6099 or e-mail amlytle@unca.edu.
