UNC Asheville to Host Big Band Jazz Concert

UNC Asheville’s Music Department will continue its spring concert season with a big band jazz concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. The event is open to the public. General admission is $5 at the door.

The concert will open with UNC Asheville’s Student Jazz Ensemble as they perform a variety of big band music, from swing era standards to contemporary selections. A vocalist will accompany the band on two songs.

The Asheville Jazz Orchestra will wrap up the show. As the only professional big band active in Asheville, the orchestra features some of western North Carolina’s top jazz musicians, which includes several UNC Asheville faculty members.
