UNC Asheville Hosts Contra Dance at the Justice CenterCome contra dancing with UNC Asheville at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at UNC Asheville’s Justice Center. No experience or dance partner is required. Admission is $3 or free for UNC Asheville students with ID. Contra dancing consists of a caller guiding dancers through a variety of moves similar to those of old-time square dancing. A live caller and three-piece band will lead each dance. The dance will start with a brief beginner’s session at 7:45 p.m., and then beginners will be encouraged to partner with experienced dancers. Because the event will be held in UNC Asheville’s Justice Center, participants must wear soft soled shoes or clean tennis shoes. The dance is sponsored by UNC Asheville’s Presbyterian Campus Ministries. For more information, contact the Rev. Bill Buchanan, UNC Asheville’s Presbyterian campus minister, at 828/254-3274.
